We may notice that our skin becomes thinner, our eyesight needs a little more attention, or our joints are not quite as flexible as they once were. But there is another part of the body that deserves just as much attention as we age: our mouth . Oral health is often overlooked in older adults. Many people assume that losing teeth, having dry mouth, or developing dental problems is simply a normal part of aging. It isn't. While aging can increase the risk of certain oral health problems, many of these conditions can be prevented, detected early, or successfully managed with proper dental care. A healthy mouth allows an older person to eat comfortably, speak clearly, smile confidently, and maintain good nutrition.
