Electronic waste, or e-waste, is the term used for discarded electrical or electronic devices, such as computers, phones, TVs, and batteries. E-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world, with an estimated 53.6 million metric tons generated in 2019, according to the Global E-waste Monitor 2020. E-waste contains valuable metals, such as gold and copper, which can be recovered and reused.
